Documentation Tradition at CEPT
This exhibition features selected documentation works from the very first known RSP of 1967 to the most recent study of 2014. It is a curatorial celebration of this significant method of learning and rich experiences through display of selected drawings, reports, photographs and sketches received from students. Selection of this assorted material is done from the wide collection of documentation that is archived at CEPT Archives. The exhibition can be approached in two ways. Firstly, the display is classified under (1) Towns and Settlements, (2) Complexes and Built-forms and (3) Details of the Making. As one embarks on this journey, at first the documentation of built environments at larger scales, gives an overview about various towns and settlements. Moving further, the drawings of complexes, monuments, houses and other singular built-forms show wide-ranging spatial relationships. At last, the details of construction and coming together of materials magnify the micro-scale view of the buildings. Alternatively, the display also categorizes the set of drawings along the geographical regions of India. Each geographical category binds diverse drawings classified earlier and represents architectural relationships across varied scales, ranging from details to settlements, elements to institutions.
